Grand Haven, MI Family Vacation

The family and I spent a few days in Grand Haven, Michigan, recently for the annual Coast Guard Festival.  My husband has family up there, and we try to make it every year.

I just wanted to share a few pictures from our trip with you - it's by far one of my favorite places to visit.  A gorgeous city, lovely people, delicious food, and loads and loads of fun times!

We drove from our home in Georgia - 12 hour drive.  This is a view out the car window of the Tennessee River when we drove through Chattanooga.

We hit a snag around 2:30am in Peru, Indiana.

Nice people in Indiana, though - a very nice woman stopped to help us.  She was leaving her bartending job and heading home, so she shined her headlights on our car while Mark changed the tire.  We got a new tire once we made it to Michigan later that morning.

Home (Away from Home) Sweet Home!

We had a family portrait session while we were there, and mom snapped a couple shots, too.

Mark's favorite part of our annual trip - Pronto Pups.  The BEST corn dogs. Ever. Period.  He ate 5 of them at this point.  That's just a snack, though.  A meal for him is 10.  :)

Hey, it's only once a year, right?!

Marley enjoyed the parade and got lots of free candy!

The highlight of the parade is the Scottville Clown Band.  Hysterically funny, yet amazingly talented musicians.

Marley and Molly enjoyed the paddle boat on the lake.  Molly (the dog) didn't last long on the boat, though. She kept jumping out, then Marley would paddle to her and Molly would hop back in and do it again!

Marley did a little paddle boarding, too!  Go girl!

Mark took a spin on the paddle board!  (If you look closely, you'll notice he's wet.  Yea, he fell a few times.)

The drive home was a lot more calm than the drive up - no flat tires.  Only wind turbines.

We had an amazing trip, and we are already looking forward to next year!
